Good evening everyone!
Tonight, we gather in celebration of the 84th Anniversary of the Seah Clan Association. This is not only a warm and joyful reunion of our clan, but also a meaningful occasion to honour and pass on our shared heritage. Every clansman present here is part of this remarkable history, and together we bear witness to the proud journey of our Association since its founding.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our President and the Management Committee. Thank you for your dedication and tireless efforts over the past year in driving meaningful initiatives that have strengthened our Association and brought our clansmen together.
At the same time, I want to extend my sincere appreciation to the Organising Committee for their hard work in planning and executing tonight’s event. Thanks to your thoughtful preparation and meticulous coordination, this dinner has been well-organised, lively, and filled with warmth. It truly reflects the spirit of unity and teamwork that defines our Association. Let us give them a big round of applause to thank every member of the committee for their dedication and contribution!
In line with the times, the Management Committee has this year launched the official Seah Clan Association website — a new platform for information sharing, event registration, and clan interaction. No matter where our clansmen are in the world, they can now stay updated on Association activities and stay connected more easily. This marks a significant step forward in our digital transformation and represents the perfect blend of tradition and modernity. Special thanks must go to General Secretary Yang Kwang, Sylvester for his hard work and contributions in making this possible. Let us give him another warm round of applause!
As an Advisor to the Association, I feel deeply honoured to speak to you tonight. I would like to share three personal reflections and aspirations with all of you: openness, respect, and efficiency. These three elements have been the pillars of our Association’s growth and will continue to be the foundation of its future strength.
First, openness of heart and mind.
The strength of any community lies in its capacity for understanding and tolerance. Our clansmen come from diverse backgrounds and bring with them different experiences and perspectives. This diversity is our greatest asset. By embracing understanding and tolerance, we can reduce misunderstandings and conflicts, and create a warm, inclusive and cohesive family. A truly great Association is built upon the collective effort and generosity of its members.
Second, respect and governance.
All resolutions passed by the General Assembly or trustee committee or management committee reflect the collective wisdom and democratic spirit of our Association. A stable and clear governance framework is the foundation for healthy and sustainable operations. When differing views arise, the best way forward is to express them through formal mechanisms. By respecting and trusting our system, we ensure the Association continues to move forward steadily and with unity.
Third, the importance of efficiency.
With vision and plans in place, effective execution is key to turning ideas into reality. In advancing the work of the Association, we must focus on coordination and follow-through so that our clansmen can see the results and feel the warmth. This not only strengthens our bonds but also encourages more young people to participate — ensuring that the vitality of our Association continues to flourish for generations to come.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Eighty-four years of history is both an honour and a responsibility. As we look ahead, I sincerely hope that we will continue to work hand in hand — to unite hearts with openness, build a solid foundation through sound governance, and drive progress with strong execution. Together, let us make the Seah Clan Association a source of pride for future generations and a lasting legacy for our descendants.
